A Healthy Snack
I love this recipe and want to share it! Although Ayurveda generally discourages snacking, we need to pay attention to ourselves and when one is truly hungry, we should eat. Every day in Pune, India with Dr. Lad, there would be afternoon chai at 4PM. The afternoon activities, whether clinic or classes, were over and dinner was still several hours away. Cookies or something similar was often served with the chai or herbal tea.
Three Seed Brittle Recipe
- 1 cup raw pumpkin seeds
- 1 cup raw sunflower seeds
- 1/4 cup white sesame seeds
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon dry ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Pumpkin seeds have a sweet rasa, sunflower seeds sweet and astringent, and sesame has sweet bitter and astringent tastes. Cinnamon is sweet and pungent, ginger is pungent. Salt is added, so all tastes are present except sour. Enjoy!
